My Sugar Gliders

About 4 years ago I found out about sugar gliders, and got an immense desire to get a pair of them. They are like small flying squirrels that love to hide in your pockets and other dark areas. They bond to you like no other animal, and make all kinds of different noises. Eventually my family caved in and got me a pair of them. This was about 3 years ago and I decided to name them Angel and Demon. They each have very different personalities, which fits with their names. They are twin sisters so the only way we can tell them apart is by their personalities. Demon is normally really grumpy and shy, and Angel is hyper and crazy. Sugar gliders are nocturnal animals that hate being woken up during the day and love playing at night. Both of mine love to jump around the cage, and spin around on the black wheel that they have. Their favorite treats are small white yogurt bites, and mealworms. The mealworms look really nasty but we got used to it because they go crazy for them. To feed the sugar gliders first we give them a treat to calm them down and then put their veggies or fruit in the cage along with their pellet food. They don’t really have a favorite food because they love eating different foods. They both love to crawl all around your hands. When a sugar glider is happy they make a really cute chirping sound. Often times when they are trying to get your attention they bark. This bark sounds almost exactly like a Chihuahua, and it makes you think that a dog is barking, when it is in fact the sugar gliders. When the sugar gliders are angry they make a really loud crabbing noise, which is hard to describe, but it is terrifying when you first hear it. Our sugar gliders often do this when you wake them up in the morning or the dog walks past their cage. The sugar gliders love to climb across different things in the cage, but their favorite place is their eggplant. The eggplant is a pouch where they constantly sleep. It is rare to see them not sleep together, because it is a lot more comfortable for them to sleep together. One of their favorite things to do is bite certain things in their cages. They just love to terrorize their cage, and it is really fun to watch them play.
