My Dog Mulan
Mulan was a part of my life from the moment that I was born. My mom has always had a soft spot for pugs, and Mulan was her baby. I never actually called Mulan by her name, my nickname for her was puppy. I would always call her and she would come running. She had a lot of energy until she ran out of breath. It would not take long for her to start breathing heavy, and snort until she would calm down in the air conditioning. She was a really good dog and could always be found by my mom’s side. Normally she would either be sleeping, chilling or eating, because doing anything else would make her breathe to heavily. She was a good dog to have by your side though. Almost a true lap dog, because she would almost never move. I was not born yet to see her go through her puppy stage, but like any other puppy she was a furball full of unkempt energy. My mom used to tell me the story of how she broke her leg. She took a flying leap straight off the couch and into the hard floor. Her leg was never the same after that. She would have a little bit of trouble every time she would try to jump on something high. Although that didn’t stop her from getting into stuff. One time she jumped onto the couch to get onto the counter, to get to a pan full of brownies. Did you know dogs are not supposed to have chocolate? Well they are not and when they do it makes them really sick. It was not fun to have Mulan sick over a pan full of brownies. We didn’t even get to taste the brownies before she got into them. Lets just say that we were not very happy, but Mulan lived through it so everything was fine. Mulan was never fixed because my parents thought that maybe eventually they would consider her having puppies. They never did end up decided for her to have puppies and eventually Mulan died of old age, and I have never seen my mom so devastated. She will always have Mulan in a special place in her heart. Since then she has dropped hints of wanting to get another pug, because of her obvious love for them. She loves animals that are so ugly they are cute. I would not be surprised if she would trade some of our new animals for a couple of pugs.
