My Cat Lucky

My cat Lucky passed away several years ago, and I still miss her. She was a very unique cat. We didn’t buy Lucky we found her, or as I remember I found her. One day my Aunt took me to my Mom’s work and I looked under a car to find her just staring right back at me. I immediately told my mom and begged her to let us keep her. She didn’t have a collar, and we deduced that she must have come from the farm a ways away. So reluctantly she said yes. We had to decide what to name her, and we ended up calling her Lucky because she was lucky that we found her. It was almost as if we were meant to. Lucky was declawed and fixed, but that didn’t stop her from wanting to go outside. She loved going outside and she would wait by the door waiting for someone to let her out. Her outdoor life included hunting mice and birds, or anything that she could get her hands on. When she would catch something she would put the body somewhere we would find it, as if she was gifting us her prey. Being outside a lot she naturally found a friend, and would cross the road to go see them. Before she would cross she would look both ways, like we would do. Even though she loved being outside she would come in once in a while, and would stay in all the time during the winter. I loved Lucky and would look forward to seeing her everyday when I came home from school. Often I would find her waiting on my bunk bed, and I would pet her soft fluffy fur. One day I came home and looked everywhere for her, only to find she wasn’t anywhere. I called her trying to find her and just assumed she was sleeping somewhere I couldn't see. Hours later I was doing my homework coloring my spider, until my mom came into the room. She sat down and said she had something to tell me. I had a really bad feeling at this point, and almost knew what she was going to say. Before she even finished speaking I was in tears. She told me that Lucky was gone, and that someone ran her over. I was confused because Lucky would never let someone hit her. She would look both ways before she crossed, so all I could think was that it was the drivers fault. Either they were going too fast or they swerved to hit her. I had never felt loss before that point and it almost crippled me, but my family got me through it, and eventually got me more animals to try and fill the hole that my precious Lucky left.
