My Dog Coco
We got Coco farther back than I can remember. What I do remember of it was the whole family going to see a bunch of chocolate lab puppies. We wanted to buy a new puppy and the whole family was there to pick it out. Our restrictions for buying one was that it had to be really friendly. So we hand fed each of the puppies, and the one that was the most eager to eat from our hands was the one that we went with. So we got to take the precious puppy home and name it. I suggested that we just leave the name that the owners gave it, but my family was not having that suggestion. So they decided to name him Coco. I don’t really remember anything of Coco’s puppy stage, but I’m sure that he was a crazy puppy just like the rest of normal puppies. I do remember what it was like to be around him as he was older though. Coco was a really big dog, definitely on the overweight side of things. That is probably because my brother would constantly feed him. Coco was a really good family dog and loved everyone, and always would appreciate some attention. It is not often that my brother bonds with an animal but he really bonded with Coco. Although I am not sure why Coco loved my brother so much, because he didn’t always treat him the greatest. When Coco got older he started to get a lot of water in his neck, which was a sign that his health was diminishing. The more time that would pass the grayer that Coco would get. Eventually Coco got really mean because of how much pain he was in. So my family decided to let him go. We couldn’t let him live in pain any longer. I took the news well but of course my brother didn’t. He was devastated and didn’t really understand why he was gone. Now every time we talk about Coco, or even go by a cemetery he says “Big dog sad.” It breaks my heart but I like to think that one day he will move on completely, or maybe he has and just wants to keep Coco’s memory alive. Now he has a new buddy Willow but I’m not sure any dog could ever fully fill the void that Coco left on my brother’s heart.
